The Governor is committed to expand high-quality art and music course offerings in public schools. His 2006-07 budget provided $105 million to support standards-aligned arts and music instruction by hiring new staff, purchasing new materials and supplies, and implementing or increasing staff development opportunities.

In addition, Governor Schwarzenegger is committed to promoting good nutrition, health and fitness for California students. His budget for 2006-07 included $40 million in physical education grants to elementary and middle schools. Funds will help schools increase the number of fully trained PE teachers and help improve the quality of PE instruction.
